About
"Zoomies Dog Social Club & Training, LLC was inspired by the love of a dog, Piper Maru, an English Pointer, with a ridiculously goofy personality and superb dog social skills. Piper was more than a pet to me. She gave me emotional support by licking away the tears when my grandma passed away, through a brutal divorce, & getting laid off from a dream job . She was my running partner, my best friend who would watch reality competition shows with me, but most of all, she was a source of endless entertainment, laughter, and comfort. My memories of those 13 short years together offer an abundance of stories for my classes.
Piper was my first dog that I parented on my own & everything I thought I knew about training a sporting breed dog went out the window! Handful would be an understatement. She failed puppy class because...'squirrel!' Distractions were the least of my problems. She once ate half a tray of chocolate brownies, had a giant ant pinched onto her upper lip, sliced open her hip muscle on a rhodendron bush, rolled in a dead sea lion, & flung blood from her tail all over my parents' laundry room.
"Needless to say, she was dubbed, "Hyper Piper" by my friends & family. But I never give up on her, & during this journey together, a spark was ignited in me; a passion for rewards-based (aka positive reinforcement) training & the altruistic need to share that knowledge. I was prompted to take an incredible career change in 2014 towards becoming a certified dog trainer.
"Sadly, Piper Maru passed away before the first steps of my dog training education were taken. But her goofy and social spirit live on in the Zoomies Dog Social Club & Training logo & branding."
